Hello friends! The holiday season is always full of fun and festive home decor ideas. I made a lot of changes to my home, not just for Christmas but more general decorating changes as well, and I wanted to share some of them with you today. Do you love decorating as much as I do? I’d love to hear about any changes you’ve made.

If you’ve been a follower of my website for awhile now, you’ll know that decorating my home is one of my absolute favorite things. While my style isn’t what you would find in magazines, I have had many people ask where I find everything that I put into my home. Today, I’m going to take you on a small tour to show you a few of the newer things I have in my home. Since it is December, there will definitely be some festive holiday decor happening. Hope you like this tour!
Hazel + Gold Designs Home Decor Tour December 2017
Living Room
First, we’ll start off with the Christmas tree. Well, one of them. Ha. This is our main tree that resides on our living room. It is the tree that I get to decorate and it is also our holiday card holder! For many years we have simply placed our cards in between branches all over the tree and by the end of the season it looks really awesome filled up with the faces of all our family and friends.
The Moravian Star at the top of the tree is one I found last month when the much anticipated Hearth and Hand line at Target opened. If you don’t know what I am talking about, I’m not sure we can still be friends. Ha! I’m kidding! But really, Chip and Joanna Gaines are everywhere and, for me, this new line they have did NOT disappoint. This star doesn’t light up, but I love it nonetheless. And you can see that we have a light near the top of our tree anyway, so it looks great.
I also bought a new tree skirt this year at HomeGoods. For many, many years I have used a handmade one, but this tree was just a little too large for it and I wanted something lighter and brighter. The sequins sparkle and it looks really great. Of course, now it’s covered in gifts, but come Christmas Day we’ll see it’s beauty again!
Here is half of our little army of nutcrackers. A few years ago I got plain wood nutcracker men at the craft store and my kids painted them. Those three small ones in front are the ones they painted and we just love to get them out every Christmas. It’s all about the memories! The candlesticks behind them are also a new addition, and I love how rough and rustic they are. You will see more of those in this tour soon.
Family Room:
Here is our fireplace mantel this year. As you can see we filled it with a bunch of Christmas goodness this year. You can read about how I built the large Rustic Advent Calendar and you can see that we were halfway through the month when this photo was taken. You can also see some the rustic candlesticks that I decided NOT to paint white. Our nativity is also there, and even Santa, because in our house, everyone believes. The stockings were all handmade by me many years ago. Each features a common Christmas symbol on the top and a part of the nativity story on the bottom. I hope that they last forever.
Here’s a closeup of Santa, which was a gift from my husband’s grandmother, and our little birds which I just adore. We got the bird on the left at TJMaxx last year and the one on the right this year from Target. I was tempted to buy them all, as Target has a full line of them and they are all equally adorable.
Dining Room:
Alright, moving to the dining room we have a few new items! One I cannot wait to tell you about is this Allium Flower mosaic! When Mozaico contacted me and asked if I’d write about one of their pieces, I was excited because they look so beautiful on their website. You guys! They are even more amazing in person! This is definitely of the new general decor pieces I will be keeping up for a very, very long time. The detail is extraordinary!
This piece arrived framed. You can order mosaics from their site that are framed, OR you can order some that aren’t and they can either be made into artwork like this, or they can be incorporated into a tiled floor or wall. The options are endless and the craftsmanship is amazing. This artwork was carefully packaged and even included some strips of all the tile colors in case anything was knocked loose during transit. I’m happy to report that mine was fully intact!
One of the things I love is that when light hits it just right, you can see the details of the stones perfectly. One thing about being a maker is that I always notice the unique details in wood and stone, and I am constantly in awe. They used those details to make this artwork, and I couldn’t be more impressed.
A couple more closeups, because I just had to show you. Isn’t it just beautiful?! Be sure to go check out Mozaico’s website and see the vast amount of designs that they have in all different sizes.
Now on the other side of the dining room we have the Balustrade Console Table that I built earlier this year. It’s decorated with our little churches and Christmas figurines that were passed down to us by my husband’s grandmother. Also, my Hearth and Hand Ceramic Pitcher full of faux berry stems from Hobby Lobby. And last but not least the Joy to the World Wooden sign that I made this month! You can find all the details to make that sign HERE.
Entryway:
Okay, now let’s move to the entryway! I got this table from Home Depot. Ha! Well, I got the wood and stain from there, and I built the table, so that’s practically the same thing, right? You can see more on the table HERE if you’re interested. I actually did buy the Advent Calendar at HD though, the candlesticks are more of those rustic ones made by my friend, and the lantern and tiny Christmas Tree came from Hobby Lobby last year. The nativity was purchased by my husband as a gift for me last year. I just love this little wooden figures.
Porch:
Alright, for the last part we’re going to talk a little about the front porch. This is all new! Well, the tree isn’t, but it is too tall to fit in the main level of this house (we bought it for the tall ceilings in our last house) so I came up with the idea of stringing outdoor lights and putting it on our large, covered front porch! My family thought I was a little crazy, but it turned to be really great and everyone just loves it!
The wreath on my front door was a great deal at Hobby Lobby. It’s lightly flocked and I added some golden berries, but with the large tree next to it, I just loved the simplicity.
Next to the tree we have the Decorative Ladder that I built last week, adorned with garland, a grapevine wreath that I created using berries and cotton stems (all from Hobby Lobby) and a tile decoration that I made many years ago using vinyl lettering. On the ground I have a galvanized tin that I painted “Merry Christmas” on, and a wire basket filled with scented pine cones. Basically, my porch is one of my favorite places to decorate. This Christmas Ribbon and Ornaments are all new this year from Hobby Lobby as well.
Alright, that’s it for this home decor tour! I hope you enjoyed it! Remember to check out all those stores and mosaics and see what special things you can find for your home! And sign up for my email list too so that you can learn to make all of these DIY projects and make your home YOU!
