Funky Abstract DIY Necklaces
SUPPLIES:
Painting:
This first step is so easy, simply drop random drops of paint using a few different complementary colors into your pendant bezels.

Be sure to add enough paint that the bottom of the bezel will be covered completely.

Drag toothpicks through the colors in the design that you want, covering the bottom. Be sure not to over mix the colors or they will turn brown. I ended up doing very little mixing, I just pulled the toothpick from one color to the next in random patterns, just whatever looked good at the moment. You can definitely be more strategic in this step than I was if you’re looking for a certain design.

For this design I just pulled the colors from the middle of the pendant outward.

For this design I swirled the colors into eachother, being careful not to swirl too many times.

Finally on this design I pulled from one side upward creating an abstract feathering type design.

Let the paint dry. It may only take a few hours actually, but I let mine dry overnight because I wanted to be sure they were completely dry. As you can see, the paint shrinks and turns into a plain matte finish.

Resin:
Let’s make those necklaces beautiful now! Resin fills in the bezel and gives it a very polished and finished look.

Put on your gloves and mix equal amounts of part A and part B of the resin in the small mixing cups that come in your kit. For these three necklaces I used 1/4 oz. of each and had plenty.

Mix the two parts together until it is no longer cloudy.

Pour the mixture into a second cup and stir again to ensure that all of the resin is thoroughly mixed and you will have no soft spots.

Now pour the resin into the bezels, but be sure not to over pour. Go slowly. You have about 20 minutes of working time with this resin so there is no reason to rush.

I used some spare toothpicks to make the bezels level since the loop where the necklace goes through protrudes a little on the back.

To pop the bubbles you can either exhale over the pieces or use a micro butane torch. The carbon dioxide is what pops the bubbles. I have a small torch that I love to use.

Let cure for 24 hours.

And there you have it! Beautiful, unique and easily made Funky Abstract DIY Necklaces! Make one for every outfit!
