Hi, my name is Habiba and I am a crafty friend of Sheri’s from Germany. Sheri asked me to teach you how to make a hand formed wire memo board, I made as a decorative organization tool for my Craft Room.
I love to do fun little crafts & DIY projects with pretty much everything I can find. Whether it be something from my stash, the thrift store or a treasure I found at the side of the road.
And it makes me happy to inspire others because creating things from scratch is super empowering! That is why I started my blog Craftify My Love, where I share all my knowledge and easy tutorials with you.

Supplies to make a Wire Memo Board
- Crafting Wire
(2 mm wide, you’ll be needing 5 meters if you make the memo board the same size as I did)
- “remember” Template (You can download the one I’ve used over on Craftify My Love in the Freebie – Collection)
- Wire-Cutter
(top right in the following foto)
- Clear tape
Tools
How to make a wire memo board in four simple steps:
Step 1 – Prepare template
You can bend the wire in literally any shape you want. You can even go freestyle. I think a little guidance is always good, though. So print out the word or shape you want (remember, you can download the same exact one I used over on CraftifyMyLove.com/freebie). You can scale it up to make it even bigger.
In the following foto, you can see the original print and then the blow-up.
I scaled my template up to a 150 %, cut the edges and taped the three pieces together.
Step 2 – hand bending wire
This part is actually pretty easy, but I was nervous none the less. So if you are, too…don’t be! I’ll show you exactly what to do in the little video I recorded just for you further down.
Video Tutorial: How to bend wire into letters
I recommend you first concentrate on bending the entire word. After you’re done, you can take a step back and examine your work. Chances are you’ll be discovering a few wobbly parts like this one:
Don’t panic! Using your fingers you can correct this by gently reforming that part. It’s almost like you were caressing the wire into shape, lol.
Step 3 – Installing your memo board on the wall
Now find the clear pins and your hammer, and maybe a friend to assist you in this process. Start on the outside and work your way towards the middle to fix your bent wire to the wall.
I used four pins in total. Three would have been enough, but my wire construction was standing away from the wall at a weird angle in the exact spot you can see in the foto below. Pin to the rescue!
Step 4 – Decorate & add notes
You can leave your wire memo board plain and simply add the things you want to remember.
These can be
- photos,
- motivational quotes, or
- to-do lists.
You can stick them behind or in between the wire elements or you can use tiny clothespins! Why don’t you go ahead and decorate those pegs with silk flowers?!
Be Creative
Notice that I chose the word ‘remember‘? Obviously, I thought it quite fitting for a wire memo board.
But of course, you can choose any word you want. Here are a few ideas you might want to choose from depending on where your creation will go in your home and what objects it will hold: Create, Love, Home, Family.
Craft Room Decor
Let’s take a step back now, so you can see the view I have when I sit at my desk in my Craft Room. Gorgeous, right? I love that it is all so full of color.
It’s pretty easy to get creative in happy surroundings like that.
How did you decorate your Craft Room?
Try your hands on those other wall decor objects you’ll see in the next foto, too. You’ll find a tutorial for each over on CraftifyMyLove.com. Just search for be happy sign, crocheting, sewing or painting inspired wall art.
If you were to sit on my desk and took a look to the right, you’d be able to see that the rest of my room is not just white walls, either. I built shelves from old drawers as an artsy little extra storage.
Now what? Check out the to-do list below and get to work, lol.
Will you get out your wire asap and start happily bending away? What word or shape will you do?
Love,
PS: PIN this to Pinterest, so you won’t forget it if you want to make it later.
